Jesus & Republicans, LGBT, & Whitney Houston Death In Context (The Point)

Gary Kamiya (Salon.com) shares a point about Jesus and the Republican Presidential candiates, and Dave Holmes (comedian) makes a point on if President Obama’s record on gay rights is enough to make the LGBT community single issue voters. Finally, what are the more substantive takeaways from the death of Whitney Houston relating to celebrity in America, consumerism and (legal) prescription drugs versus illegal drugs? Guest host John Fugelsang (Sexy Liberal Comedy Tour) leads the discussion with panelists Diane Winston (USC Professor of Media and Religion), Rabbi Lisa Edwards (Beth Chayim Chadashim Synagogue), and comedian Paul Gilmartin (Mental Illness Happy Hour). They study the bible looking for the ‘magic’ answer. They need to start doing the obvious things that Jesus is famous for. I think you can be illiterate and be a good Christian. Stop studying the bible with a magnafying glass. Pull away and start following Jesus.

Wake up, you’ve been sleeping, and the GOP used you, and lied to you, and convinced you that Jesus hates gays, and likes war, and killing, and death. Stop studying the bible in detail, and start living like Jesus said to live, in his famous, easy to know and remember teachings.

That is exactly what the GOP candidates are doing. They are showing off their religion in public to show how wonderful they are and therefore get votes from the GOP base idiots.

its not about an answer. its about knowing what you preach, if youre going to push the bible onto people than you should at least know the teachings and practice them yourself.

How do you know that God didn’t create homosexuality as a way to control population explosion. If all you know about God is from the bible then you are using 2000 to 5000 year old data. God still talks to some people. Eistein’s insights into the workings of the universe, for example, he considered God’s thoughts. You my friend, are way behind in your knowledge and awareness of God.

eisteins view of god was metaphorical, as the beauty within natural phenomena, not in the theist way you’re suggesting

But those were absolutely fictitious cities.

Either way, his view of God and the universe is more evolved than the 2000 to 5000 year old biblical version.
